CSIRO Acquires CubeSat that Detects Invisible Infrared Light

To be known as CSIROSat-1, the new satellite will allow researchers from CSIRO and other institutions to 'see' features that can't otherwise be seen using satellite imagery in the visible spectrum. Although the satellite is a pilot and relatively small, the data collected will be valuable for detecting land cover changes such as flooding events or deforestation, detecting bushfires through smoke, and studying cloud formation and the development of tropical cyclones, as well as many other applications.

LHD sustainment awarded to NSM

Naval Ship Management has won the $1.5 billion contract to sustain and support the Landing Helicopter Docks (LHDs) and LHD Landing Crafts (LLCs). “More than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs will be supported in Sydney and across a national supply chain through this contract is which is valued at more than $1.5 billion.”

Cyber security innovation node to build NSW industry

A Cyber Security Innovation Node will be established in NSW as part of a national network to accelerate the growth of the cyber security industry.
